Everyone has to brush their teeth from time to time, but many people actually know very little about their teeth and what they do to it. Here are three things you might not know about tooth care that could come in handy at your next trivia game:
1. Toothbrushes are Fairly Standardized
Toothbrushes do look fairly mass produced, but when you consider the bristles, it becomes harder to conceive of how one could easily make a ton of these. After all, there are just so many! If they were to cut corners anywhere, it would be in the bristles, right? Actually, the bristles are very well regulated. The average toothbrush has come to have about forty tufts with 25,000 bristles all together.
2. Dental Implants are Really Reliable
Cosmetic dental implants have come a long way over the years, but do you know how successful your local cosmetic dental clinic is? These general dentists have a success rate of up to 98% on their implant procedures, and these implants can last a lifetime if they are properly cared for, just as with real teeth. Remember, the best dental care is preventative care!
3. Your Teeth are Tough Stuff
Those two general dentist facts are certainly fascinating, but what about your actual teeth? Those implants are fairly reliable, for example, but how sturdy can your teeth actually be? Surprisingly, the teeth are really quite robust. Specifically the enamel of your teeth is the hardest part of your body, over even bones and such! Of course it is a thin layer of enamel, but it just goes to show that chipping your teeth is a hard job. What do you think of your teeth? Get more on this here.
